The Etsy Angels are fundraising for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy all through June.  For some "fun" we're holding 2 BNR's this week.  The first is on Wednesday, June 6th and Thursday, June 7th.  Both BNR's start at 5:00 p.m. "Etsy" time (EST) and end at approx. 10:00-11:00 p.m.  We'd love to have you join us, have some fun, chat a bit and purchase from the Artisans taking part in the BNR.  Don't know what a BNR is?  Well, we'll tell you!

The Curator puts together an Etsy Treasury of all the Artisans that are taking part, 12 in all.  You can purchase anything from any of the "Treasured" Artisans....and then YOU take their place in the Treasury until someone buys you "out" and takes your place!  Since we are having a 2 night BNR those remaining in the Treasury at the end of the BNR on Wednesday will be carried over to Thursday nights BNR.  There will be a minimum amount to "buy into" the BNR ($5.00).  So, you have to purchase an item that is at least $5.00 to get into the BNR.  That $5 does NOT include shipping.

All of the Etsy Angels that are taking part in the BNR will be donating a percentage of their sales to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, those people buying in do NOT have to donate anything but we wouldn't mind it if you did!  Please join us on Wednesday and Thursday night.  It will help us with our fundraising efforts and it will help you promote your own store by buying into the BNR, it's a "win-win" for everyone!

Amanda runs for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and the Angels help!

 June is almost upon us and with it comes the Angel's next charity fundraiser.  We will be raising money for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  One of our very own Angels, Amanda from ChloeBoutique78, will be participating in the 20th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon on January 13, 2013 where she will run her very FIRST full MARATHON!  She is running as part of the "Run For Our Sons"- Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy and on Steps for Seph Team she'll run in celebration of Joseph "Seph" Ware; a 6-year old boy from her hometown (West Monroe, LA) who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The funds raised will go towards Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.  Please read more of Seph's story here.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood, affecting approximately 1 in every 3,500 live male births (about 20,000 new cases each year). Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X-chromosome, it primarily affects boys; however, it occurs across all races and cultures.

Duchenne results in progressive loss of strength and is caused by a mutation in the gene that encodes for dystrophin. Because dystrophin is absent, the muscle cells are easily damaged. The progressive muscle weakness leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Young men with Duchenne typically live into their late twenties.

Spring is almost with us and the Angels are taking some much needed time off from our fundraising this month.  Even Angels need a rest now and then!  But, in true Angel form we are all still working hard creating new and beautiful things for Spring!  Visit the Angel Shops listed below and see all of the wonderful items that are new!

Fundraiser Update~Joey's Eagles

The Etsy Angels had another great fundraiser last month for Joey's Eagles!  We raised a total of $481.00 + 2 shops still have to get their donations in!  It was a great month and we're proud of the amount we were able to send to help Joey's Eagles!  If you took part in our fundraiser by making a purchase, thank you!  It's supporters like you that help us continue our fundraising efforts, we so appreciate each and every one of you!

We had a total of 22 Etsy Angel team members taking part in the fundraiser.  It was so nice to see everyone working together once again to benefit a worthy organization.  We are all proud of being who we are and even more proud of the number of non-profit's we have been able to help over the years.

Angel's BNR For Joey's Eagles A Success!

Last nights BNR for Joey's Eagles, hosted by the Etsy Angels, was a resounding success!  Everyone had a wonderful evening laughing, supporting each other, and watching those sales add up!  There were a total of 42 sales for the Angel's January charity.  Dollar amount is unknown at the moment but will be pulled together soon and posted here.

The charity fundraiser will continue through the end of January so if you were unable to take part in the BNR you can STILL shop at any of the Angel's stores listed below and help the Angel's make a difference in a child's life.
